$16 Ignored → Top 10 by $1200 Market Cap: Wall Street Money Finally Compliantly Buys ZEC
Do you still remember ZEC in 2024?
$16. A well-established privacy coin that launched in 2016, now drops so much that almost no one wants to even glance at it.
And then?
On September 7, 2026, ZEC will break through $1,200. Its market cap will surpass $20 billion, surpassing DOGE and HYPE, directly climbing to ninth place among cryptocurrencies.
16 to 1200, 6300% increase. In two years, it increased 63 times.
This isn't a 'Dog' project; it's an old project that launched in 2016.
What happened?
1. For the first time, Wall Street's money can legally buy ZEC
On August 25, the Grayscale Zcash Spot ETF (ZCSH) was officially listed on the NYSE Arca. It is the world's first ETF to offer ZEC spot exposure.
Think about what that means.
Did institutions want to buy ZEC before? The compliance department was the first to shake their heads—"Privacy coins, regulatory risks are too high, not acceptable." ”
And now? ETFs traded on NYSE Arca, custody by Coinbase Custody, fund management by BNY Mellon. Wall Street's compliance shackles have been unlocked by a key.
In 11 days after listing, ZCSH had a cumulative net inflow of $34.4 million. The number of ZEC held increased from about 388,000 at launch to about 428,600 on September 3. By September 4, holdings further increased to about 444,600 coins, with AUM reaching $463 million.
Agencies are buying up goods.
2. ETF net inflow of 34.4 million, market value increases by over 10 billion—this leverage is worth considering
Before the ETF launches on August 25, what is the approximate market cap of ZEC? Over $8 billion.
What about today? 20 billion dollars.
A net inflow of $34.4 million has driven over $10 billion in market value growth.
Leverage multiple—close to 300 times.
What does this indicate?
First, ETFs are not just about "how many coins you buy," but also about compliance signals. When a ZEC ETF appears on NYSE Arca, the market's pricing logic for ZEC changes. Previously, it was a "regulatory minefield," now it is a "Wall Street certified asset."
Second, the bears were squeezed out.
When ZEC broke through $1,000, about $24.2 million was triggered in forced liquidations within 24 hours, of which $22.6 million came from short positions. By September 6, the single-day liquidation amount had reached $45.3 million.
A whale named Garrett Jin opened a short position of 32,760 ZEC at an average price of $444 in early July. As ZEC rose above $1,200, the unrealized loss was $25.7 million.
As long as the bears don't die, the rally doesn't stop. If the bears die, the rise will only get stronger.
3. It's not just ETFs—the entire ZEC supply side is being "locked in"
Winklevoss-supported Cypherpunk Technologies launched the world's largest ZEC mining machine cluster, controlling about 18% of the network's hash rate. Monthly output is about 7,800 ZEC.
What does this mean? New supply is decreasing, while institutional demand is rising.
Grayscale Research previously pointed out that ZEC's current market cap is still less than 1% of Bitcoin. If ZEC can capture 2% of Bitcoin's market share, the target price is $1,622; If it captures 5%, it would be over $4,000; If it takes 10%, it's $8,109.
Of course, this is Grayscale's prediction, not a promise.
4. But here's the question—is the story just beginning, or is it nearing its end?
The logic behind ZEC's recent rally is very clear:
Compliance entry opens→ Institutional funds continue to sweep up → spot buying pushes prices higher→ rising prices trigger short squeezes, → squeezes further push prices → positive feedback loops.
But the other side of the positive feedback loop is that when everyone rushes in, the stage top is often near.
A month ago, ZEC was around $500. Today, it's $1,200. RSI is severely overbought, with open interest reaching $2.4 billion. Whale addresses are highly concentrated, with the top 10 addresses accounting for 84.4%.
The story of ETFs is true, institutional money is real, but has the price already been priced in too much of the expected amount?
My view:
In the long run, opening compliant fund channels is structurally beneficial for ZEC. Grayscale spent nine years turning Zcash Trust into an ETF—a path not just anyone can take.
But in the short term, the risk of chasing higher is always greater than missing out.
ZEC rose from $16 to $1200, a 63-fold increase. If you rush in now, is it looking at the past at 6300%, or on the future at $8109?
You have the final say.
