🐋 $1.3 BILLION IN WHALE BUYING — SO WHY IS CRYPTO STILL FALLING?
Something interesting is happening in the crypto market. Large holders appear to be accumulating $BTC, $ETH, and $XRP, yet prices continue to face selling pressure. 📉
Over the past few days, estimated buying activity has pointed to significant accumulation:
🟠 $BTC: Around 15,000 BTC, worth approximately $1.2 billion
🔵 $ETH: More than 166,000 ETH reportedly accumulated
⚫ $XRP: Roughly 45 million XRP changing hands through large purchases
These dollar estimates are based on token quantities and assumed purchase prices, so they should be treated as estimates rather than confirmed exchange-wide whale buying.
💥 THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY: LIQUIDATIONS
The market has also experienced heavy leveraged liquidations, with reported 24-hour liquidations approaching $1.2 billion and long positions accounting for the majority.
When prices fall, leveraged traders can be forced out of their positions. Their liquidations create additional selling pressure, potentially pushing prices lower even while other market participants are accumulating.
That creates two opposing forces:
🐋 Larger buyers may be building positions at lower prices.
Overleveraged traders may be forced to sell as their positions are liquidated.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Heavy accumulation does not automatically mean an immediate price reversal. Large transactions can reflect transfers between wallets, exchange activity, hedging, or genuine spot buying. Meanwhile, derivatives liquidations can amplify short-term volatility.
The real question is whether buyers can absorb the remaining sell orders and defend the market's recent lows.
If selling pressure fades and buying volume strengthens, a recovery could develop. If prices continue falling despite reported accumulation, the market may need more time to establish a bottom.
My approach: Watch the price reaction, not just the whale numbers. No chasing, no blind assumptions. Let volume, market structure, and a confirmed recovery show whether accumulation is actually making a difference.
