KAIA at $0.055, are you willing to bet?
Upbit surged 60% within 3 days of listing, but today it dropped back to 0.055, with RSI hitting 80. Korean retail investors rushed in only to get trapped. Is this a shakeout or the end of the run?
Let's look at the surface: up 55% in 7 days, nearly doubled in 30 days, but down 5% in the last 24 hours.
On October 9, KAIA's KRW pair was listed on Upbit, with the price jumping from 0.036 directly to 0.067, an increase of over 60%. Binance spot trading volume expanded more than tenfold at one point, perpetual positions surged, and shorts were liquidated. Then what? Today it fell back to 0.055, with an intraday low of 0.0514.
Market cap is 360 million, circulating supply 6.44 billion, basically fully circulating. Still 86% below the ATH of $0.41 from December 2024.
In plain terms: this surge is driven by the Korean exchange listing, not confirmation of a new trend.
First: Upbit listing is positive, but not the kind of positive you might think.
Upbit is the largest exchange in Korea, opening the KRW market has a huge impact on Asian retail funds. Once the news broke, the price shot up vertically.
But you need to understand—listing-driven rallies and fundamental-driven rallies are two different things.
Listing rallies come fast and go fast. They don't change the intrinsic value of the project, they just make more people "aware" of the coin. Awareness doesn't equal buying, buying doesn't equal holding.
KLAY was already traded on other Korean exchanges, but the KRW pair on Upbit is new. No mainnet upgrades, no major app launches, no tokenomics reforms—only the "Upbit listing" explains this surge.
Listing is not fundamental; it's a liquidity event. Liquidity events are like fireworks: after the show, only paper scraps remain on the ground.
Second: fundamentals aren't bad, but not good enough.
Kaia is the Layer 1 after the 2024 merger of Klaytn (Kakao) and Finschia (LINE), inheriting the ecosystem foundation of two giants, targeting the East Asian market.
Sounds impressive? But the reality is:
On-chain activity and TVL have been mid-tier for a long time
No explosive applications have emerged
Token value capture depends on usage, but usage hasn't picked up
Market cap down 86% from ATH means previous pricing overestimated expectations
Fundamental conclusion: it's not trash, but not a "must-buy" either.
Look at KAIA: first see if sustained trading volume in the Korean market holds, then watch the price. If Upbit volume shrinks and price falls below 0.05, that's a sign the hype is over.
Third: technically it's shouting "overbought," but no one listens.
Daily RSI around 80, seriously overbought. From 0.036 to 0.067 is a typical listing pump; a 20%-40% pullback after a pump is normal.
Now 0.055 is stuck between today's low (0.0514) and rebound high (0.064), no clear direction from bulls or bears.
Strong support: 0.0514 (today's low). If daily closes below, next support at 0.045, then 0.040.
Near-term resistance: 0.061-0.064. Can't reclaim this range, rebound is just a correction.
Strong resistance: 0.067-0.070. Without volume, closing back at 0.065 makes higher prices unlikely.
On the 4-hour chart, 0.051 is a demand reaction level, but 0.055 hasn't swallowed 0.061 yet. The structure is "pump and dump waiting for confirmation," not a right-side breakout.
Bottom fishing is not about betting on direction, but waiting for confirmation. KAIA hasn't confirmed yet.
Bull vs. bear, you decide:
Bulls:
Upbit KRW market opening may bring continuous Korean retail inflows
7-day rise of 55%, 30-day nearly doubled, short-term trend upward
Kakao+LINE ecosystem foundation, East Asian market has potential
Volume expansion shows real money is involved
Bears:
RSI 80 seriously overbought, 20%-40% pullback normal
86% down from ATH, long-term trend still bearish
Unfavorable macro: Fed hawkish, 10-year yield 5.2%-5.3%, risk appetite low
Small market cap, thin liquidity, large orders can crash price
No new fundamental catalysts, hype fades and price retreats
Key level 0.055 has room both ways, but downside risk clearer.
Resistance above: 0.061-0.064 → 0.067-0.070
Support below: 0.0514 (lifeline) → 0.045 → 0.040
Trading strategy
Short-term long:
Only buy on pullback to 0.051-0.052 without breaking, and 1-hour reclaiming 0.054. Stop loss below 0.049. Targets 0.060, 0.064. Buying now at 0.055 faces resistance above, risk/reward not favorable.
Breakout long:
4-hour volume breakout closing above 0.062, then target 0.067. Stop loss below 0.056. No volume, no fake breakout.
Short-term short:
If 0.060-0.064 resistance holds and volume weakens, light short on pullback. Stop loss above 0.067, targets 0.052, 0.048. Expect short-term retracement, keep position small.
Swing:
No new catalysts mid-term. Wait for volume to shrink and price to form a base near 0.05, then reassess. If daily closes below 0.051, listing rally ends, wait for 0.040. Only if Korean market volume sustains and price holds 0.065, treat this as a new start.
Risk control:
Single coin risk no more than 2%-3% of risk capital, leverage capped at 2-3x.
KAIA now is like KLAY in 2021—
Korean retail rushed in, doubled in 3 days, then declined for half a year.
Difference is: this time it's Upbit listing, bigger traffic, but fundamentals not stronger than back then.
Don't treat listing as a positive; listing just makes more people aware, doesn't mean more will buy.
0.055 is a midpoint, not a bottom. Midpoint means both up and down are reasonable, but your stop loss only goes one way.
