Zcash has long been known for one thing most cryptocurrencies still struggle with: real privacy. Shielded transactions hide the sender, receiver, and amount. But sending money still usually means copying a 178-character address that no one wants to read out loud.
ZADDR is trying to fix that.
The project is launching 2,800 hand-drawn pixel faces on Zcash. Every face is public. Every owner is not. Ownership lives in Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool, so the person behind each face stays hidden. The tagline captures it cleanly: “Nice to not meet you.”
Instead of sharing a long z-address, users claim a simple name tied to their X account. Someone can pay and the payment goes to the private address behind that name. The payer never sees the 178-character string. Keys stay on the user’s device. ZADDR does not hold anyone’s funds.
The project used a tightly controlled whitelist. More than 21,000 people applied. Applications are now closed and still being reviewed by hand. Approved holders recently gained the ability to nominate others. Each approved user can make one nomination by posting:

Every nomination draws a line on the live map at As of the latest update, that map shows 236 lines crossing 40 countries and 110 borders. The visualization treats the network like a spreading contagion — a playful way to show how trust and access are moving across the globe.
Mint is scheduled for 21 September 2026 at 0.02 ZEC per face. Whitelist mint starts at 13:00 UTC (1 per wallet). Public mint follows at 19:00 UTC (3 per wallet).
ZADDR is not trying to be a wallet or an exchange. It is trying to make private payments usable. A public face, a simple name, and a shielded address behind it. You can see who is in the network. You cannot see who owns what.
That is the point.
