Overpaid premiums did not result in claims
Risk bill unfolded: $ETH annualized volatility 44.0%, $BTC 26.7%, bearing 17 more points of turbulence, resulting not in more profit but double the loss. Sharpe -10.92 vs -7.83 — for each unit of risk taken, $ETH loses 30% more than $BTC. This sentence is pricing, not mockery: when volatility premium cannot buy yield premium, $ETH only retains narrative value; only when that narrative converts into cash flow will this account be worth turning.
On the capital side, there was a counterintuitive move this time: seven-day cumulative net outflow of contract positions, $BTC withdrew $749 million, $ETH only withdrew $368 million; calculated by initial positions, $BTC unloaded 8.9% leverage, $ETH only 5.9%. Yet the result was $BTC fell only 3.44%, $ETH fell 7.76% — $BTC actively burned fuel, $ETH spot panicked on its own, the same bearish candle revealed two qualities.
Details in sync: on 10/09 both sides had a large escape on the same day ($BTC -$382 million, $ETH -$397 million), then both returned 80 to 90 million over the next two days. The Morgan report adds a finishing blow: year-to-date digital inflows about $50 billion, since August ETF fund flows improved, turning net inflow for the year, institutional futures holdings have risen for two consecutive months — the first stop for smart money to replenish is still $BTC.
