Altcoin perpetual open interest has overtaken BTC for the first time in about 21 months, per Coinalyze. That is a shift in where leverage sits, not proof of stronger underlying demand.
My read: the breadth of positioning matters less than its resilience. If spot demand cannot absorb forced unwinds, a wider altcoin trade could still be a fragile one.
