The 2.77 bid-to-cover ratio at the latest U.S. Treasury auction is more significant as a signal than as a direct market catalyst for gold and silver.
A strong auction reduces the risk of a disorderly surge in long-term Treasury yields, but it does not change the core pressure on precious metals: long-term U.S. yields remain elevated, real interest rates are high, and the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets remains significant.
