September inflation came in hotter than expected across the board. Headline CPI hit 3.7% YoY vs. 3.6% forecast, while core CPI reached 2.6% vs. 2.5% expected. Core MoM also remained firm at 0.3%, missing expectations for a slowdown to 0.2%.
The inflation pass-through is becoming harder to ignore. Energy prices surged 20.4% YoY, with gasoline jumping 9.1% MoM, raising concerns that persistent energy costs could keep broader inflation.
