Maia 300 matters less as a product announcement than as a cost-control signal. Microsoft's planned 2027 deployment gives it time to turn claimed inference efficiency and rack throughput into operating leverage. If execution matches the targets, in-house silicon could improve bargaining power with GPU suppliers as inference demand expands.
